Wilma Winter

WINTER Wilma “Billie” Winter (nee Stromsmoe) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 7, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Billie was born April 28, 1931 in Olds to Helmer & Ina Stromsmoe and was raised in the Eagle Hill district. After completing school, she worked at Wong’s Diner as a waitress where she met Stanley Winter. Stan and Billie were married on February 25, 1955 and lived in the Poplar Creek community east of Olds. Together they had four children 2 boys and 2 girls. Throughout her life Billie was active with the Sunshine Ladies Club, raising her children, caring for Stan, her mother in law Thora Winter and brother in law Rolyn Winter. In her later years, Billie became involved in the East Olds Baptist Church Bible Study group which she enjoyed very much. After Stan’s passing, she moved to Rosewood Towers, Mount View Lodge both in Olds and a brief stay in Rocky Mountain House until settling at the Olds Hospital Long Term Care where she remained until her passing. She will be lovingly and sadly missed by her children Brian (Debbie) Winter, Sheila (Wesley) Erickson, Donna (Jim) Gordon, Steven (Collette) Winter; grandchildren Adam (Mandy) Winter, Aaron Winter, Alyssa (Walter) Skulsky, Lindsay (Stan) Hall, Jody (Myron) Unger, Kashtin, Coda and Jaydan Gordon, Justin, Antia and Cydney Winter; great-grandchildren Tyson Winter, Austin Hall, Treyson Unger and her sister Luella Rose. Funeral services were held on Monday November 14, 2016 at the East Olds Baptist Church. Interment was held prior to the service at the Olds Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.
