Randolph Wentzell Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Randolph Allister “Randy” Wentzell, 90, of Riverport, announces his passing on Monday, December 5th, 2016 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Riverport, he was the son of the late William and Edna (Mossman) Wentzell. He spent most of his working life with the department of highways but began his career by working on the railway and the Nova Scotia Hotel. Randy loved gardening but his greatest joy was time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Lucille “Lou”; daughter Dorothy Fraser, East LaHave; sons, Allister (Jean), Riverport, William (Annette), Rose Bay; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Randy was the last surviving member of his family. Besides his parents, Randy was predeceased by his brothers, Chester and Harold and an infant daughter and granddaughter. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia and Palliative Care of the South Shore Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg, for the compassionate care shown to Dad. We would also like to thank Rev. Willis Ott. for his words of comfort and support during this difficult time.
