Angus Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Angus Leander – age 85, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2016 at Veterans Place in Yarmouth. Born in Woodville, N.S. on March 22, 1931 Angus was a son to the late Angus B. and A. Isabel (Johnstone) Cleveland. A Korean War Veteran Angus served with the R.E.M.E for 29 years and was a member of the Royal Canada Legion Branch 61, Yarmouth. Angus was passionate about dancing and loved to listen to music. He was known as a talented artist and local business owner. Surviving are his daughters, Jacqueline Cleveland, Ottawa Ont; Lisa Cleveland, Dartmouth, N.S.; sons, A. Lee (Paula-Lyn) Cleveland, Ottawa Ont; Darryl (Alice) Cleveland, Meteghan, N.S.; brothers, Wesley Cleveland, Yarmouth; Lloyd and Kenneth Cleveland, both of Pubnico; and Robert Cleveland of Tusket; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and his first wife, Muriel (Larkin) Brooks. Besides his parents Angus was predeceased by brother, Grover Cleveland in Thompson Manitoba; sisters, E. Marie Muise in Yarmouth; Princetta M. Goodwin in Pubnico; and his partner later in life, Barb Tanner who passed away in 2014. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held on November 25, 2016 from 1-2 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel followed by a joint Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 Yarmouth Service and celebration of Life at 2 P.M with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada or the Maple Grove/Yarmouth High Memorial Club.
