HALEY Gordon Joseph – age 86 of Sand Beach Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on January 23, 2017. Born in Yarmouth on August 2, 1930 he was a son to the late John H. and Celina M (Muise) Haley. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather who loved his family dearly. He had a kind heart and loved the company of friends and family. Gordon worked on the Prince of Fundy for many years and was a fisherman travelling to Alaska, Hopedale, and many other ports. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards and watching Blue Jays baseball. He was also very talented and could play any musical instrument, especially the accordion. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Bernice M. Trahan, together for 71 years; daughters, Laureen (Carl) Nickerson, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co; Valerie (Wayne) Gannon, Cole Harbour; Linda (Bill) Muise, Sluice Point; sons, Gordon Jr. ( Charlene), Belleville; Melford (Rhonda), Port Maitland; grandchildren, Lisa, Cheri ,Carl, Denise, Dwayne, Elayne, Larry, Bill, Stephen, Jessica; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Gordon was predeceased by his brother, Joseph “Sonny”; sisters, Margaret Haley, Joyce O’Connell, Rose Burns; son, Ray Haley; and grandson, Justin Haley. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Stephen Bourque officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Children’s Wish Foundation, Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
