WHITE, Robert John – age 94 of Yarmouth passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on December 6, 2016. Born in Yarmouth on February 23, 1922 he was a son of the late John and Agnes (Babin) LeBlanc. Robert worked at the Yarmouth Grand Hotel from 1947 to 1985. In his earlier years he worked at the YMCA where he honed his skills as a very good bowler, having participated in many tournaments in the late 40’s and early 50’s. He was known for always having a joke or pictures to share and well known and liked throughout the town. What a friendly ambassador he was. His last years were spent at Sunset Terrace, a home originally for women but after accepting Robert as the first male resident, and such a success, many men followed and to quote Robert “competition”. Surviving are his daughter, Sandra (Robert) Brannen, Fredericton N.B.; grandson, Jeffrey Brannen, Fredericton; sister, Mildred Frost, Yarmouth. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Martin) White; brothers, Amos LeBlanc, Henry White, George White, Joseph Leo LeBlanc; sisters, Marjorie LeBlanc in childhood, Celeste Rodgerson, Theresa Goodwin, Margaret LeBlanc, Julia Newell, and Alice Brohman. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s funeral home chapel with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will take place in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery in the spring of 2017. A reception will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Community Hall following the funeral service, all are welcome. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory can be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
