Margaret "Peggy" Blake Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Blake Our Mum passed away peacefully at her home in Guelph surrounded by family. She will be dearly missed by daughter and daily caregiver Carole Wenstrup (John) and children Patrick and Kaileigh, son Noel (Ann) and children Nicole and Rhys. She was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis (1958), loving husband, Charles (1993), and eldest son, Dennis (2016), and will be remembered by her extended family and friends in Canada, Ireland, the United States and Scotland. Born Margaret Mary Larkin in 1932 at Holles Street Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, Mum was the youngest child of a family of seven. At 24 she left Ireland leaving all her family and friends behind to follow her heart to her future husband Charlie, who had arrived in Canada months earlier. Peggy boarded a ship in Dublin and arrived in Canada at the port of Montreal and very quickly moved to the town of Acton where she was married and raised her family. Peggy worked many years at Frank Heller & Company in Acton. She moved to Guelph in 2005 to be close to and to be supported by her children. Our Mum cherished raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow to young adults, and taught us some of the more simple things in life: go to school, work hard, family comes first, and never lose that sense of Irish wit. Mum, having never learned to drive, was very much joined at the hip with Dad and relied on our father to go everywhere together including trips across Canada, the US and back to Ireland. We know that Dad was waiting for her with open arms, with Dennis at his side. “May the sound of Irish music, and the lilt of Irish laughter, fill your heart with gladness, that stays forever after.” Family and friends will be received at MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill Street East, Acton on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Patron of Canada Parish, 64 Church Street East, Acton, Ontario. Interment to follow in early spring. The family wishes remembrances to be made to the Canadian Alzheimer Society.
