<p>Passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Hagen) Smith and cherished father of Donna Jones (Chris) of Perth, Ont. and Gary Smith (Jill) of Riverview, New Brunswick. Loving grandfather of Erin Gordon (Spencer), Ian Jones; Kaileigh, Brandon, Morgan and Talia Smith. Fondly remembered by his niece Darlene Watson (Scott) of Hillsdale, Ont. and their children Heather, Ryan and Alexa. Also survived by his sister-in-law Helen Krull of Barrie. Predeceased by his brothers James and Harry Smith and by his sister Edith Egan.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to Dr. J. Fitzsimon, Dani Emon, Marlo Michelson and the Nursing Staff of the Arnprior Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Friday December 2, 2016 from 11 am until 1 pm, when a celebratory service in honour of John's life will be held in the Chapel.
