McKNIGHT, Samuel William "Sam" Peacefully at Saint Like's Place on Monday, October 24, 2016 in his 98th year. Loving Father to Garry of Keswick and Craig (Jayne) of Sherwood Park. Loving grandfather to Curtis John and Eleanor Grace. Predeceased by his loving wife Louise and his son Robert. Sam worked as a Professional Engineer for Westinghouse for 46 years, including support for the war effort through the Royal Canadian Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in 1945. His career in lighting design led him to many countries around the world and he was an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society. His list of accomplishments include Vancouver's BC Place Stadium and Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium. In retirement Sam volunteered to support developing countries (Peru, Romania, Honduras, and South Africa) through the Canadian Executive Service Organization. As an avid golfer, Sam was proud to have played courses around the world including the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon in Scotland. At Sam's request there will be no funeral home visitation. Cremation has taken place. Interment to be in Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton, ON. Arrangements entrusted to Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, ON
