Leeming, Doris passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Sunset Manor in her 96th year. Doris was raised in Burnley, Lancashire, England and immigrated to Canada with her husband, Harry, in the early 70’s to settle in Collingwood, Ontario. Doris was known for her fondness of animals, having many of them over the years from dogs to cats. She loved taking them for walks around the neighborhood and up the mountain. Blue Mountain was an integral part of Doris’s life, from waking up to its vista every morning to skiing on it on perfect snow days. It remained a true constant in her life. Doris was very active in the community. She was an avid bridge player and won many tournaments. Doris was a great entrepreneur, from owning a fish and chip store in England to being well known in her real estate career here in Collingwood. Her independent spirit and feistiness carried her throughout her entire life. She will be sorely missed as a Grandmother and as a true and kind friend. Doris, beloved wife of the late Harry is predeceased by her son Stuart. She will be remembered by her granddaughters Andrea (James) and Darrelle and great grandchildren Alexandria, Adam and Max. A service of remembrance will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Sunday January 22, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations to Georgian Triangle Humane Society would be appreciated.
