TOMPKINS, “Chris” Myles Chrysostom
Born April 27, 1926 in Margaree Forks, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to Virginia (nee Doyle) and Michael Tompkins, Myles Chrysostom Tompkins entered into rest peacefully in his 91st year at Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Chris was Pauline’s cherished husband since 1951. He leaves his legacy of generosity, strength, selflessness and unconditional love to his children Janice (George) Kwasney (both deceased), Patrick (Patricia), Peter, Susan (Dean) Curtis, Shaun (Wendy), Michael, and Sheila (Oliver) Nogard, and to his grandchildren Lindsay, Hayley and Taylor Tompkins, Ryan and Sarah Kwasney, Luke, Rachel and Eric Nogard, Sean and Emma Curtis. Loving brother to Bernard (Joanna) (both deceased), Laffin (deceased) (Patricia), Patrick (deceased), Richard (deceased), Margaret (Jerry – deceased) Kulchyckyj. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Patrick and Peter Hynes (both deceased). Chris was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 1454), and the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 163). The family will receive friends at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (1919 King Street East, between Rosedale and Cochrane) on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Eugene’s Parish (232 Queenston Road, Hamilton) on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army would be appreciated by his family.
