Norma Ethelwyn Hoover (née Young), passed peacefully at her residence, Trillium Court in Kincardine, on November 4th, 2016. Born on August 3, 1916 in the Young home on the banks of the Grand River. She was one of six children born to Harry and Winnie (née Martindale) Young. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past August surrounded by family; "getting the whole gang together" as she liked to say. Beloved wife of the late Wesley Hoover (1988). Dear mother of Doug Hoover (Cheryl) of Vancouver. Missed by her grandsons, Randy Hoover (Darlene) of Glencoe, Chris Hoover (Diane) of Ilderton, Grant Hoover (Ann) of Kincardine, Mathew Hoover of Vancouver, Joe Hoover (Emma) of Calgary and great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Samantha, Andrew, Ryan, Dylan and Evan. Also survived by her sister Rita Hewitt (Leonard) and in-laws Shirley Young, Bob Hoover (Charlotte) and Albert Hoover (Donna). Predeceased by her son Kenneth Hoover and his wife Shirley (née Flowers), brothers Oliver Young (Marjorie), Kenneth Young (Vicky) and Jack Young, sister Dorothy Shannon (Ted) and sister-in-law Frances Docherty. A funeral service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Thursday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 9:00 p.m. Transfer will be made to Miller Funeral Home, Caledonia where visitation will be held on Friday, December 9th from 12 noon to 2 p.m., followed by the interment at Caledonia Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
