Donald Kenneth Durst Toronto, Ontario Obituary

Donald Kenneth Durst

DONALD KENNETH ANTHONY JOHN DURST With broken hearts we announce the death of our father, patriarch, friend and our “rock”. Affectionately referred to as “Donald Duck”, he was born Dec. 4, 1928 and died on Nov. 30, 2016, 4 days before his 88th birthday. Don was married to his soul mate and best friend, Alice, for 63 years. Proud father of Linda Coopman (Bob), Michael (Cheri), Dan (Loretta), Jane Durst Pulkys (Paul), Joanne (Sam Paradiso), John (Debbie), Mark (Jennifer), Marie Mason (Rob), and Joe (Tammey). He was the grandfather of 26, great grandfather to 11, and the many great grandchildren to come. Survived by his brother Jim (Joanne). Don was very proud to be a chartered accountant and was a long time employee of Ernst and Young (formerly Clarkson and Gordon). He loved being active and in particular, he loved being a member at the Toronto Hunt Club, of which he was a past president (and by his own admission was a terrible golfer!). Dad was a gentle soul and a man of few words, but those words were witty, compassionate and kind (and always grammatically correct!). Don and Alice have been an inspiration to all of us. Dad’s love and commitment to his wife, family, and friends, his generosity and his faith, made him the man he was and the man we all loved and admired. Thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Complex Care Unit at East General Hospital for their attentive and compassionate care for our father. Dad was generous beyond words. In lieu of flowers he would love a donation to Friends of Honduran Children or the Alzheimer’s Society. Visitation will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto 416-423-1000 on Tuesday Dec. 6 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wed. Dec. 7 at 10:30 am at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1300 Leslie St, North York. Private Cremation. A reception to follow at Heritage Funeral Centre. Dad, your son Stephen, your parents Edna and Clarence, some of your brothers and sister and your so very many friends are waiting for you in heaven and will welcome you with open arms. …. And to that we say “Quack Quack”
