Billie McCurry

Billie Lou McCurry, 532 Sandy Bottom Road, Erwin, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center, where she was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late Bascom and Lela Pierce Tipton. Mrs. McCurry was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and me-maw. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she absolutely loved being a Me-Maw! Cooking for her grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved to go shopping with her daughters. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Susie Jones. She leaves behind to cherish all the wonderful memories of her, William McCurry, her husband of fifty-four years; one son, Todd McCurry of Johnson City; daughters: Lisa McCurry Lanclos, twin daughters, Kathy Goddard and husband, Patrick, Kim Whitson and husband, Anthony, all of Erwin; one brother, Mose Tipton of Erwin; four sisters: Peggy Cox and husband, Ralph, of Florida, Elzona Jennings and husband, Bob, Betty Peterson and husband, Jack, all of Jonesborough, Ellen McCurry and husband, Plin of Erwin; four grandchildren: Hunter Goddard, Gavin Whitson, Grayson Goddard and Gabe Whitson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P. M. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Roger Laws and Reverend R. Dayton Lewis will officiate. Music will be provided by Allan Foster. Pallbearers will be Anthony Whitson, Patrick Goddard, Hunter Goddard, Gabe Whitson, Shannon McCurry and Jason Byrd.
