Harold Stewart Fort Smith, Arkansas Obituary

Harold Stewart

Harold Stewart passed from this life Friday December 16, 2016 after a long struggle with COPD. He was born in Logan County to his late parents, Chester and Verna Moore Stewart. He was a retired long distance driver for Rheem Manufacturing. He loved his driving “buddies” and loved telling tall tales about their adventures. He loved country music, his friends and family; he was a “giver”, never thinking of himself. His mission in life was to help others and in return had many friends whom he loved and they also loved him. He loved his family and was always available for them. He loved his cousins and loved talking on the phone for hours with them. He and Sharon, his high-school sweet-heart and wife shared their love for 56 years. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Sherri, Debbie, John and Lori. He had no problem sharing with others how smart and talented they were. Each child was special and brought great joy to him: Sherri his “first born”, always happy and responsible; Debbie was his funny valentine, always made him laugh, John was his only “son” and always wanted to “be like dad”, which made him proud; Lori was his “baby girl” and loving caregiver who frequently made his favorite meal (beans, cornbread and fried potatoes) which made him happy. His best friend for life was his sister, Jackie Stewart Hamilton. He loved them all, as others, without judgement or reservation; His love was truly unconditional. His life was an open book on caring, giving and loving others; he will be greatly missed by many. Harold was of the Christian faith. Harold is survived by his wife Sharon; four children, Sherri and husband Ray, John and wife Tammy and Lori all of Fort Smith, Debbie Gresham and husband Dan of Sugarland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Marvin of Warner Robins, Georgia, Reagan Gresham of Sugarland, Texas, Madison Arrowood, Cole Haynes, Austin Stewart, Whitney Haynes, Krystal Carnes, Stephen Carnes and Samatha Roberts all of Fort Smith; three great-grandchildren, London Scott and Carson Haynes of Fort Smith, Jordan Marvin of Warner Robins, Georgia; one sister Jackie Stewart Hamilton and husband Gary of Fort Smith; nephews Shea and Shawn Hamilton of Fort Smith, one brother-in-law Don Kreipke of Fort Smith and all his beloved cousins. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 20, 2016 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial in Steep Hill Cemetery. The Family will visit with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home 4500 Jenny Lind Road Fort Smith, AR. Pallbearers will be Larry White, Jim Links, Paul Gilliaum, Ben Brown, Gary Knight, Dennis Cole, Don Justice and Fred Trobaugh.
