Mrs. Sylvia J. (Cheshier) Jackson of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the age of 79. She was born June 13, 1937 in Newport, the daughter of Theodore and Joaquin (Burgess) Cheshier, and married Mr. J.W. Jackson on June 10, 1953. Mrs. Jackson worked many years for Dr. Jabez Jackson and Dr. Guilford Dudley in Newport, and had also worked at Harris Hospital. She was an active member of the Lakeside Baptist Church. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed gardening, and working in her yard. Most importantly, she loved her family, and the time they spent together. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Jackson; and her parents. Mrs. Jackson is survived by three daughters, Debbie Anderson and husband, Ronnie, of Newport, Becky Evans and husband, Teddy, of Tuckerman, and Kelly Riley and husband, Ron, of Newport; three brothers, Danny Cheshier and wife, Irene, of Newport, Larry Cheshier of Newport, and Jackie Cheshier and wife, Jennifer, of Tuckerman; one sister, Sandy Hembrey and husband, Jack, of Newport; five grandchildren, Jamie Anderson of Matagorda, Texas, Jody Anderson and wife, Ashten, of Newport, Clint Evans of Tuckerman, Holly Parker of Texarkana, and Logan Riley of Newport; five great-grandchildren, Dustyn Anderson, Whitney Anderson, Jaxon Parker, and Westyn Parker, and Sydney Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday morning, 10:00 a.m. until service. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Gracelawn Cemetery.
