Joan Kay Van Kampen, 74 of Hemet, California passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, at home surrounded by family. She was born on Friday January 2, 1942 in Bellflower, California. Joan love to crochet so all the family have afghans, mittens, and those unique beer can hats to prove it. She liked to travel with her late husband, Gerald Van Kapmen who passed away in November 2010, to Las Vegas and park themselves at the penny slots. They could spend all day there enjoying the sights and sounds and the possibility of the big payoff. Joan liked to read and enjoyed the VC Andrew series books. Her family describe her as being loving, caring and a bit stubborn at times. Her favorite desert was peanut butter fudge. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Surviving are sons, Gerald Van Kampen, Jr. and Kevin Van Kampen, daughter, Sheri Smith, brother, Gary Neill, 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews.
