Annie Sisson

Annie Laurie Sisson, 90, of Greeley, CO passed away on January 24, 2017 in Greeley. Annie was born on August 11, 1926 in Lakeland, FL to John M. and Norine (Hancock) Foshee. She grew up in Lakeland and Clarksburg, WV and graduated from Lakeland High School. After high school, she attended Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA and was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp during World War 2, until its dissolution in the 1950’s. She graduated from Emory in 1947 and received her pediatric training at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, and John Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. After moving to Colorado, she was employed by Colorado General Hospital, where she met Dr. Earl Sisson. They were married on April 22, 1950 and he spent their first years in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Colorado in 1954 and came to Greeley later that year where he established a pediatric practice. She was employed for 16 years at the University of Northern Colorado Student Health Center, retiring on January 31, 1989. Annie participated Scroll and Fan, Weld County Medical Auxiliary, Chapter CR PEO, volunteered in School District 6, United Way, Girl Scouts, and served a four-year term on the Greeley Parks and Recreation Board. Annie also enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, cooking, gardening, jogging, hiking mountain trails, and Work Out West. Earlier in her life she was an avid traveler. Annie is survived by her daughters, Katie, Jill, and Cindy; grandchildren, Libby, Lori, James, and Marinda; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dixie Hardin and Johnnie Foshee.
