Joseph Corona Obituary

Dr. Joseph Corona passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his home. He was born July 27, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois to John and Angeline (Zammuto) Caronna where he grew up and graduated from Boylan Catholic High School in 1966. He graduated from Rockford College with a BS in Zoology, Creighton University in Omaha in 1972 with a Masters in Physiology, and M.D. from Creighton University in 1975. From 1975-78 he served his residency in Rockford in family practice. He married Carol J. Fisher on February 12, 1977 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Rockford. They moved to Greeley and he began practicing medicine in Eaton from 1978-81, served as Residency Assistant Director in Grand Junction from 1981-83 and then worked in private practice in Greeley, retiring in 2013. His hobbies included model rocketry, coin collecting, videography and magic. He also loved to take his family on road trips, enjoying the Arizona climate and palm trees and was an avid Cubs and Broncos fan. He most enjoyed time with his family, especially spoiling the grandkids. Joe was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Board of Family Medicine and was Level 1 Certified NAR (National Association of Rocketry). Survivors include his wife, Carol of Greeley; sons, Jack (Erica) and Jay (Katie) all of Greeley, Jeffery of Denver; five grandchildren, Joseph “J.D.”, Declan, Mary, Joey and Brennan; mother-in-law, Nora Fisher of Aurora, IL; brother-in-law, Charles (Mary) Fisher of Batavia, IL and their two daughters as well as numerous cousins including Lucy Aiello and Vicki Titino. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at the Adamson Chapel with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 20 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 915 12th Street, Greeley. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to “St. Peter Catholic Church” in care of Adamson Cares, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
