Ana D. Roman, 72, wife of Isidro Roman, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Born in Naranjito, Puerto Rico on August 23, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Jose Ortiz and Obdulia DeJesus, She had resided in Meriden since 1964. She attended Lyman Hall High School and graduated from Springfield College School of Human Services. Mrs. Roman was employed by the Meriden Board of Education for twenty years as a para professional. She attended Victory Christian Church in Middlefield. She and her husband were married in St. Rose of Lima Church. Mrs. Roman was an avid reader and loved to cook and spend time with her family. Besides her husband, Isidro, she is survived by two daughters, Marisol Pelletier and her husband Laurence of Meriden and Lori Roman of Meriden; two sons, Isidro Roman Jr. and Gerry Roman, both of Meriden; three grandchildren, Lorenzo Lopez, Riley Duszynski and Charlize Pelletier; three sisters, Adamina Roman of Puerto Rico, Flor Hillocks of Wallingford and Clodealda Gonzalez of Florida; one brother, Primitivo Ortiz and his wife Urania of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Belen Roman and two nephews, Jeffrey Ortiz and David Ortiz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 12 noon at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning prior to the service from 9 am to 12 noon. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
