March 21, 1926 – March 19, 2012

Gina Florence Grodzicki (Seriani), 85, wife of the late Francis (Frank) Z Grodzicki, passed away 03/19/2012 at the Masonic Hospice after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden’s Little Italy on March 21, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Augusto and Theresa Seriani and had been a lifelong Meriden resident. Gina was employed for 27 years at International Silver Company and later at the Curtis Home.
She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. She worked many years volunteering her time to her church servicing as co chairman of the church’s Pasta kitchen during it’s renowned Italian Festival and until very recent years helped co-ordinate the Society’s annual St. Patrick’s dinner. She was a mainstay at the Knights of Columbus bingos managing the kitchen. When meeting old friends who remembered her from the K of C bingos, they would always ask for her pasta fagioli recipe.
Gina loved her bingo games and had many friends at the games in both Meriden and Wallingford and enjoyed her trips to the casinos. Gina loved to watch her sports and if the Celtics or the UConn Men or Women were on TV you couldn’t interrupt her. She loved the Celtics and Ray Allen. As Gina said many times she didn’t have a choice when it came to sports because her 2 sons were always playing on some athletic team somewhere and she was their most avid follower.
Gina is survived by her 2 sons, David Grodzicki of Meriden and Gary Grodzicki and his wife, Sharon of Middlefield, a daughter in-law Betsy Grodzicki of Eastford, Connecticut, 4 grandchildren, Dan Grodzicki and wife Jennifer , Michele Frenkiewich and husband Brian, Carrie Snow, Becky Grodzicki and Eric Grodzicki. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Alex and Savannah Grodzicki and Ayla, Kylin, Ainsley, and Kelby Frenkiewich. She is also survived by one sister, Lena Dionne, a brother Albert Seriani, a very special sister-in –law Vicky Taylor and many nieces, nephews and many, many lifelong friends. Gina was pre-deceased by her husband Francis (Frank) who she was married to for almost 50 years, a daughter in-law Diane Grodzicki and one brother Julius (Joe) Seriani.
The Grodzicki family would like to thank Dr. Fumo, Wendy Holmes APRN, their staff and the staff of the Infusion Center and Pavilion B at MidState Medical Center, also the staff at Masonic Hospice for their loving care given to Gina.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
