John “Jack” A. McGuire, 81, of Meriden, beloved husband of Maureen Kelly McGuire, died on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the Alzheimer Resource Center in Southington after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in New Haven on July 17, 1935 he was the son of the late William and Mildred (Dwyer) McGuire. He had resided in Meriden for the past forty-eight years and had graduated from Hamden High School and the Culinary Institute of America. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was the Deputy Mayor of Meriden from 1970 – 1974, while serving on the City Council. Jack operated the Corner House Nursing Home Inc. until 1991, later, he retired from the Marriot Residence Inn in 2008. Jack was a member of the Civitan Club, Saint Joseph Home and School Association and a coach for Ed Walsh Little League. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, John McGuire and his wife Andrea of Southington, Kelly Milliken and her husband Steven Sundberg of Meriden and Mark McGuire and his wife Jennifer of Schenectady, NY; five grandchildren, Colby, Shelby, and Courtney Milliken and Rowan and Declan McGuire; a sister, Barbra Colley and her husband Arthur; a brother, William McGuire and his wife Jeanne Carson and sisters-in-law, Joan C. McGuire and Faith S. Kelly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James McGuire, his nephew William Mark McGuire and his son-in-law Mark Milliken. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 am at St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J.
