Eugene Doe

On October 25, 2016 Eugene Everett Doe joined his beloved wife Barbara in eternal rest. Gene died peacefully at the age of 87 at McLean Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 21, 1928 in Bristol, CT and was the only child of Warren and Hazel Doe. He grew up in Warehouse Point where he met his wife Barbara and settled here with his family. He started his work career at C.H. Dexter Company where he worked for 30 years. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the army, and a proud 60 year member of the American Legion. He was a volunteer at the Warehouse Point Fire Department and a lifelong member of the Broad Brook Anglers Fishing Club. After retirement which he was able to do at age 55, Gene and Barbara became avid travelers seeing the United States and Europe. They dined out, played bingo, went to the casino, followed the UConn Huskies and spent time at their Burlington Home. Gene was also a devoted fisherman, a wonderful gardener and a man who could fix anything. He was a gentle soul who will be truly missed by his family and forever in our hearts. He leaves behind his two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and James Patrina and Roxanne and Glenn Beebe; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Evan, Julianne, Melanie, Joshua and Aaron and his three great grandchildren Zaidyn, Leyli and Taija as well as numerous extended family and friends. Gene’s family wishes to thank the staff of McLean Home and Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion and asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Gene’s name be sent to McLean Home Unit I, 75 Great Pond Rd., Simsbury, CT 06070. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor.
