Helen Mears Hathaway, age 83, of Blountstown passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in Blountstown. Born in Marianna, November 27, 1932, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Addis (Gable) O’Bryan. She was a homemaker and was custodian for Blountstown First Baptist Church for several years. She was a member of Rivertown Community Church. In addition to her parents, John and Addis O’Bryan, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Mears; two brothers, Fred O’Bryan and James O’Bryan; and a sister, Allie Mae Raybon. Survivors include five sons, Steve Mears and his wife, Pat of Blountstown, Bill Mears and his mate, Betty of Marianna, Clinton Mears and his mate, Lori, Jackie Mears, and Donald Mears, all of Blountstown; two daughters, Betty Hodge of Blountstown and Shirley Davis of Bristol; twenty-seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Tyre and her husband Fred of Grand Ridge; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a special caregiver, Crystal Brangan. The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 25 at Adams Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha.
