Annie Haynes Obituary

Annie Pearl Haynes was born July 31, 1937 to the late George and Willie Mae Bell. She was the first of six children born to this union. Two of her siblings preceded her in death, Willie George Bell and Jacob Bell. At an early age she confessed her faith to Christ. She attended public school in Bullock County. She relocated to Birmingham, Alabama with her family where she graduated from Wenonah High School. During her high school years Annie was a majorette and drum major. Annie married her childhood sweetheart Roland Hicks. Three children were born from this union. She relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and united with James Bass; two children were born from this union. Later in life Annie married James Haynes who preceded her in death. Annie loved to dance and entertain. She traveled for a short time with the original Harlem Globe Trotters dancing as little “Egypt.” She was an avid seamstress and worked for the cleaners tailoring garments, and she enjoyed sewing for friends and family. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and fishing. Annie operated several restaurants, game halls and she worked with flowers at a local landscaping nursery. She was a gift to the community often feeding the hungry and providing shelter for the homeless. On Saturday, March 4, 2016 at University Hospital Hospice Unit in Tamarac, Florida the good Lord called Annie Pearl from labor to reward. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
