Carolyn McMillan

Carolyn Louise Lane McMillan was born November 12, 1952 to the late Elder John Douglas and Marguerite Watkins Lane. She was born in Philadelphia, PA., the youngest of three daughters. Around the age of two the family moved to Ft. Myers, FL. She was a member of the First Born Church of the Living God, Ft. Myers, FL. wherein as a teenager she gave her life to Christ. Upon graduation from Fort Myers Senior High School in 1970, Carolyn moved to Ft. Lauderdale FL. She united with the First Born Church of the Living God, Pompano Beach, FL. under the leadership of the late Bishop Jack Jones, Jr. In this ministry she was an active member, singing in the #1 choir, General Church Secretary, Youth Department and Devotional Leader. On June 10, 1983 she entered into the covenant of marriage with Willie D. McMillan who preceded her in death in June of 1987. As a result of this union, she had a stepdaughter, Chanta, and a stepson, Willie Jr. In January 1996, Carolyn being led of the Lord joined a newly formed church, Praise Temple FBC, Inc. under the leadership of her sister and best friend, Dr. Lennie O. Gaskins. She served faithfully in various positions such as General Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Praise & Worship Leader, Pastor’s Aide President, and upon her calling into the ministry in 2003, she served in the churches’ “Across The Miles” Radio Ministry. Carolyn worked for some years as a cosmetologist in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas. She then went to work for Broward General Medical Center as a Unit Secretary. After 25 years of service, she retired in 2008. Carolyn was a real “Woman of God” with a heart of compassion. In her younger years she and her friend, Evangelist Margie Epps traveled locally visiting hospitals and nursing homes. She witnessed to others in a way that persuaded them to accept the Lord as their personal savior. Carolyn also had a beautiful voice which she did not mind using to glorify God. Among her other attributes she enjoyed shopping and cooking. Her warm embrace and genuine love will forever be missed and she will always live in the hearts of her loved ones. She leaves to cherish her memories; 3 sisters: Dr. Lennie O. Gaskins, (Elder Mack) of Lauderhill, FL, Barbara A. E. Jackson (Lonnie Jr. deceased) of San Leandro, CA, Shirley J.
