Ray Brooks, 69, was born on April 13, 1947 with his twin brother Roy Brooks. He grew up in a rural town in Alabama.
He was a beautiful soul who tried to always make people smile no matter the situation. Ray was very passionate about cooking. In his twenties he went to Broward College and obtained his Culinary Arts degree. He worked in the food service industry for 34 dedicated years for the School Board of Broward County. Ray served the community with his love of cooking. He operated a barbeque stand on Sunrise Blvd. He fed hundreds with his famous sweet potato pies.
He enjoyed being around people. Throughout the years he became a minister and pastor to hundreds for over 30 years. He would bring a smile to any and every person he met. Ray was a very compassionate, and giving person. He would give you the shirt off his back.
Ray leaves to cherish his memories, a loving daughter: April Brooks- Salaam; two grandsons: Jarrante Salaam and Jeremiah Salaam, who reside in Lake Wales, Florida; and other loving relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
