Bernard Charles “Bernie” Kronz, 66, of Hollister, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was raised in the Crescent City are and lived most all of his life in Putnam County (Palatka and Hollister). Bernie served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp. Years ago, he was a heavy equipment operator. He had worked as an inspector (civil engineering) with Mittauer and Associates in Orange Park for 12 years and prior to that with Anderson-Columbia in Lake City for 5 years. In his leisure time, Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, RC Model Aircraft and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter R. Kronz and Jeanne Allers Kronz. Bernie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Kronz of Hollister, 2 sons, Bernard C. Kronz, Jr. and wife Bonnie of St. Augustine and David Kronz of Crystal River, 2 daughters, Rachel Kronz and Kimberly Kronz of Hollister, a brother, Walter R. “Bob” Kronz, Jr. and wife Irene “Teeny” of Hastings and 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Lauren and Tristian Kronz. Services celebrating Bernie’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Sisters Beverly Hudson and Annette Engles and Bro. Keith Engles officiating. Burial with military honors bestowed by the U.S. Marine Corp will follow at Pinelawn Cemetery in Mannville.
