Bertram Bekemeyer

Bertram Dean Bekemeyer, age 90, passed away, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, following an extended illness. A native of Orlando Bert had lived here since 1953 coming from Leesburg. Bert was of the Lutheran faith and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Pharmacist for 55 years, serving at City Drugs, Moores Drugs, Rexall Pharmacy in Leesburg, Angebilt Pharmacy in Orlando, Extended Care Pharmacy and had also owned and operated professional pharmacy in Palatka. finally retiring from Walmart Pharmacy here in Palatka in 2003. Bert was a 1952 graduate of the University of Florida, and was a member of the Elks; VFW Post 3349 and the American Legion Post 45. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dean Bekemeyer. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Bekemeyer; son, Phil (Robin). Daughters Carmen (Willie) Blocker, and Karen (Doug) Crede; Brother Lee Bekemeyer and 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2pm, Tuesday March 28, 2017 at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
