Olive Teuton Palatka, Florida Obituary

Olive Teuton

Marie Teuton, 97, of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. Born in Aliquippa, PA, she grew up in “God’s Country” Eureka, FL from the age of 10 moving to Palatka in 1948. Marie married the love of her life, Robert Lester Teuton on April 14, 1940 and enjoyed 73 years of a loving relationship with Lester prompting her to write a book about their lives entitled, “Lester and Marie – A True Love Story”. She also wrote songs and recorded a CD entitled “A Gift of Love”. A loving wife and mother to their daughters, Marie led a very spiritual life devoted to helping others: visiting shut-ins and those in nursing homes, and cherished the years caring for her own mother who was in ill health. The same care she exhibited for others also extended to her desire to protect nature and the environment and led her to be active with the Florida Defenders of the Environment organization. Marie was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed planning and cooking for family events. She will forever be remembered by her family for her fun-loving spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lester Teuton and her parents, Thomas Bernard Flanagan and Sarah Olive Thompson. Marie is survived by 4 daughters, Sonia Muffoletto of Daytona Beach, June Thompson of Palatka, Darlene Hasty (Charles) of Palatka and Imelda Hodge (John) of Palatka, 2 brothers, Steve Flanagan (Dot) of Eureka and Tommy Flanagan (Carolyn) of Belleview, FL, 2 sisters, Doris Bustello of Jacksonville and Theresa Robinson Martin of Palatka, 15 Grandchildren and 25 Great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Murray Teuton officiating.
