Thomas "Tommy" Henderson

Thomas “Tommy” Eugene Henderson, age 74 of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Born March 10, 1942 in Clayton Georgia he was a son of the late Clete Eugene “Sarge” and Frannie House Henderson. Mr. Henderson proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Saratoga. He retired from Schnadig Corporation with 42 years of service and was currently attending The Torch Worship Center. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Janie S. Henderson of Cornelia; son & daughter-in-law, Tim & Sheila Maney of Eastanollee; grandson, Matthew Corey Maney of Lawrenceville; twin brother & sister-in-law, James H. & Laura Henderson of Ringold; nephew, James H. Henderson, III of Ringold; several cousins. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, October 9, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Franklin, Pastor Scott Smith and Pastor Wes Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the United States Navy Honor Guard.. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm & 6-9 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent for the Children of Haiti in care of The Torch Worship Center to 800 Cannon Bridge Rd., Demorest, GA 30535.
