Thomas “Tommy” Lee May, 52, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at Sarasota Memorial Emergency Hospital, Sunday, February 19, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday March 12, 2017 at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, 2932 Hwy 41 N., Fort Valley, Georgia, 31030. Tommy could accomplish anything he set his mind to and saying “no” to someone was not an option. His interests included Fishing, taking people fishing, gardening, learning to do new things, and helping others. No task was ever too small for Tommy to accomplish. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He is survived by his longtime companion of 34 years, Karen Tavanier, Mother, Letha Marie (May) Amerson, three sisters and two brothers, Cheryl Ann Pennyman, Lisa Marie Norris (Timothy), Tony Allen Hammonds, John Davis Hammonds (Andrea), Tammy Lynn Pace (Eric), seven nephews, Dwaintavious, Chad, Brandon, Paul, Devin, Danie and James, and six nieces, Ashley, Gensis, Shelby, Kyra, Storm, Hannah and an Uncle and Aunt and many cousins.
