Robert McBurney Kempa Obituary

Robert McBurney Kempa, 92, of Naalehu, Hawaii, was born in Harbin, China on March 2, 1924, and passed away at home on February 3, 2017. Robert was raised in Honolulu and witnessed the December 7 attack on Pearl Harbor. Robert served our country in WW-II as a Merchant Marine, worked for UH Manoa in the Mechanical Engineering Dept. for 16 years, operated a Kona coffee farm for 20 years, and worked for the US Forest Service in Oregon. He is survived by wife Susan; sons Jesse Red Feather (Laura Rosensteel) Kempa of Santa Cruz, California; Robert M. Kempa of Honolulu, Hawaii; and grandson Bobby Kempa of Honolulu, Hawaii. A memorial will be held on March 3 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery at 11:45a.m. A celebration of life and potluck will be held on March 4 at 94-1527 Ka’alualu Road in Waiohinu at 2:00p.m.
