Mary Hunt Hailey, Idaho Obituary

Mary Hunt

Mary Hunt, 86, of Carey passed suddenly from this world Friday October 7, 2016. Mary J Blackwell Hunt was born September 5, 1930 in Hailey, the youngest child of Don and Grace Blackwell. She grew up on what was known as "Austin Flat" or "Fish Creek Flat" northeast of Carey. Mary had a wonderful childhood surrounded by lots of neighbor kids and social activities which seemed to always involve baseball games. Mary attended school in Carey, and though she was less enthusiastic about her studies she made up for it in athletics. She especially loved basketball and softball, and excelled at both. She unselfishly passed those passions on to her children and grandchildren, playing with them every chance she got. On December 19, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, Keith Hunt in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. For the next 57 years, Mary and Keith worked, loved, and lived life on their Little Wood River farm. Mary enjoyed many community activities. Her kids kept her busy supporting their numerous sports, 4-H, and school projects. She was never too busy to bake a cake, sew a suit, or umpire a softball game. And when the grandchildren came, she was always lending a hand teaching them to run the sewing machine and to play ball. Mary had many friends because she was such a good friend. She kept in touch with friends from high school as well as friends she made during the 80's and 90's at her various jobs including Sun Valley Co., Atkinson's, and the Hailey Senior Center. Since Keith's passing in 2007 she has enjoyed the companionship of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as her best friends at the Carey Senior Center and the Fit-No Fall exercise group. Mary's favorite past time was family picnics, shopping and going to lunch with her friends, and tending to her large garden. Survivors include her four daughters, Dale-Marie Hunt of Mackay, Joan (Frank) Goble of Ontario, OR, Susan (Jerry) Weaver of Carey, Linda (Brian) Plew of Boise, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters; Alma Rush and Dorothy Blackwell, and her lifelong love, Keith, whom she has missed dearly. Services will be held Thursday October 13 at the Carey LDS Church; viewing at 10am, services at 11am.
