William (Bill) Sherbine passed away on November 5, 2016 from a combination of heart & cancer related issues. He was born in Buhl, Idaho on July 25, 1935 to William & Libbie Makousky Sherbine. Shortly thereafter he was taken to his home on the Baseline Road, south of Bellevue where his Mom & Dad’s farm was located. He became a skilled farmer & rancher adding to the acreage over time & was awarded Idaho top Barley grower in 2004. In 2006 he again earned that distinction & was additionally awarded the Coors Top Grower Award competing with 700 growers throughout five states. He knew his land inside & out, passing on his knowledge to his Son Rocky who in turn now includes his Son, Isaac, on the augmented acreage on which Bills parents started. A multi generation Coors commercial was made featuring the three Sherbine Men. Bill married Nancy Braase on August 12. 1956. They had three children, raising them on the farm on Baseline Rd. Bill is survived by his Son Rocky (Terri) Sherbine, Daughter Rustin (Mark) Miller, Grandson Isaac Sherbine, Granddaughters Abby (Jeff) Davis, Ali Sherbine, Jozey (Josh) Fortin, & Great Granddaughters, Gracie & Hazel Davis & Adeline Fortin & Sister Norma (Bud) Barry. He also held a loving place in his heart for extended family too numerous to mention. Bill is also survived by his long time companion Mary Ann Knight & her family Sons David (Stacey) Knight & Joe (Cheryl) Knight, Daughter Dianna (Shane) Bartlome, Grandsons Boone Bartlome, Wiley & Drexler Knight, & Granddaughter, Amanda (Cody) Johns, Bailey Jo Bartlome, & Great Granddaughters Paitynn & Kinzley Johns who also held a special place in his heart. Bill was proceeded in death by Nancy, his daughter Libby “Joe” Sherbine, grandson Zachary Sherbine, his parents, his sisters Leona Myers & Dolores Nisson & brothers in laws Jack Myers, & Don Nisson & nephew Jim Nisson. Bill never met a stranger. He could carry on a conversation with anyone & kept in touch with many of them. Bill was always generous and concerned about everyone. In his younger days winters were his time to shine. Snow machining was a favorite sport. He was labeled “Wild Bill” on three and four men cross county snow machine racing teams that were labeled “Those guys are hard to beat”. He & his horse Snake were a team to be feared in rodeo events especially roping & occasionally as a hazer for bulldoggers. Bill was not only a farmer-rancher. He hauled milk, did some mining & worked for Sun Valley Company many years punching ski tickets & driving bus. He drove a team of horses for many years for the Trail Creek Sleigh Ride Adventure. This led him to into his own draft teams & carriages which he loved to expose to parades, weddings, sleigh & hay rides. Bill was a dedicated civic duty activist. He was a member of the Search & Rescue Team for many years. He was an active member of the Sawtooth Rangers Riding Club to the extent of conditioning the arena floor before & during rodeo performances as well as serving year after year on the Board of Directors. He seldom missed a group ride & added to the camp preparations as well as the friendship circle of the campfire rings. Bill enjoyed rodeo of all kinds & followed the Professional Bull Riding circuit which took him & Mary Ann to the Finals in Las Vegas for several years. They enjoyed the Pendleton Roundup annual trip & one year made it to the Calgary Stampede. High School & College Rodeo trips to watch grandkids compete were common events. Arizona became the preferred winter location where they made many lifelong friends, enjoyed four wheeling rides in the dessert, attending jam sessions, dancing & sharing tall tales over cocktails & pot luck dinners. Bill delighted in sharing his crop of grapefruit & lemons upon his arrival back in Idaho. Bill’s funeral will begin on Thursday November 10th at 1:00pm on the farm at 153 Baseline Road followed by burial at the Bellevue Cemetery. His Celebration of Life will follow immediately in Rocky’s barn at 200 Baseline Road. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
