Charles Lindsey Obituary

Charles Lindsey, 86, of DeSoto, went to met Jesus and rest came to his tired body at 12:25 a.m., December 27, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Charles was born on July 3, 1930, in Gorham, Illinois, to H. O. Lindsey and Hattie (Brown) Lindsey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles married the love of his life Rose Mary Rimkus on June 5, 1954 in Ironwood, Michigan, and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2011. He was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenter's Local # 638 in Marion. He was very creative and could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He was a master craftsman with wood products. He was also a very good athlete. He loved playing baseball and basketball. Mr. Lindsey attended the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro. He loved his family more than any man could and was always there for them when needed. Survivors include two children Mary Arbeiter and her husband Carl Arbeiter of DeSoto, and Charles E. Lindsey and his wife Karen Lindsey of Murphysboro; one son in law Daniel T. Alstat of Murphysboro; and five grandchildren Daniel C. Alstat and his wife Tiffany, both of Vergennes, Aaron Lindsey and Meagan Rosalie Lindsey, both of Murphysboro, Ryan Lindsey of FL, and Christina Arbeiter of DeSoto. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter Christina Alstat, his siblings and his parents. Gravesite services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Goodbread Cemetery with Rev. Jim Frye and Rev. Paul Hicks officiating with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the cemetery.
