Dr. E. S. del Carmen, 87, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. E. S. was born on April 13, 1929, in the Phillipines to Nicanor and Cesaria (Silvestre) del Carmen Dr. del Carmen was an urologist and served this community for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro. He was an avid reader, and he was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. He is survived by his daughters Valerie Hiser of St. Louis, MO and Kristina Hiser of Murphysboro; four sisters Conchita Navarro, Eleonor Iglesia-Paranaque, Luzviminda del Carmen, and Adelina Adrias, and one brother Jaime del Carmen, all of Manila. He was preceded in death by three brothers and his parents. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and until 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Pettett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
