James Housewright, Jr., 91, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. James was born on December 13, 1925, in Hallidayboro, Illinois, to James Housewright and Lillian (Smith) Housewright. He had served as a Pharmacist Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Housewright was a retired printer with the Southern Illinoisan. Jim married Jo Ann (McCraw) and she survives. Other survivors include one step son Brad Young of O'Fallon, MO; and a friend Cathy Bencini and her daughter Heather Fowler, both of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by one step son Brian Young.
