Rita Heimann

Rita Heimann, 89, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Harbour Assisted Living in Fort Wayne. Rita was born on July 5, 1927 in Jay County, IN to the late Jerome and Agnes (Kreig) Wellman. On July 7, 1951, she married Eugene Heimann; he preceded her in death in November of 1996. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was also in the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 20 and was involved in Harvest House. She was also a member of the Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary 2653. Rita worked as a homemaker and also was employed at G.E. in Decatur for 5 years and for C.T.S. in Berne for 14 years. She is survived by 6 sons, Leonard E. Heimann, Leo R. (Donna) Heimann both of Huntertown, Donald J. (Sheila) Heimann of Decatur, Tony J. Heimann of Chicago, Fred J. (Liz) Heimann of Van Wert, OH, Greg P. (Kristin) Heimann of Ann Arbor, MI; 4 daughters, Linda L. (Don) Andrews of Monroe, Dolores M. Langholf of Socorro, NM, Agnes R. Benner of Van Wert, OH, Rose Ann (John) Lochary of Houston, TX; 2 brothers, LeRoy (Jean) Wellman of Greenville, OH and Eugene (Peggy) Wellman of Fishers, IN; a sister, Doris (Greg) Wack of Tucson, AZ; 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Isaac Andrews; 8 brothers, Jerome, Richard, Francis, James, Carl, Paul, Erbin, and Arthur Wellman; 3 sisters, Martha Dodd, Helen Wellman, and Edna Hoying. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 8:45 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Bob J. Lengerich and burial will take place in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Building on Our Heritage, Knights of Columbus, or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
