Ruth Marie West Underwood, age 90, of Milton, Kentucky and who lived in Lexington, Kentucky for sixteen years, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She married Lawrence N. Underwood on October 13, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born November 12, 1926, in Waco, Texas to Andrew J. and Pebble Jane Merritt West. She was employed at the Indiana-Kentucky Power Plant for 30 years and retired from there in 1991. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, working with ceramics and crafts and volunteering at the Madison Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating for Christmas. She spent her retirement in Lexington, Kentucky with her daughter and family. She will be sadly missed by one daughter, Barbara Underwood McEndre and her husband, Rand of Lexington; one son, Lawrence Elliott Underwood and his wife, Veronica of Kiowa, Colorado; three grandchildren, Ramona (Vince) McEndre Savatgy of Lexington, Howard Rand McEndre, III of Cincinnati, Ohio and Reagan Leah Underwood of Colorado; one brother, Charles L. West of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Newton Underwood on died August 1, 1977; her parents; and one brother, James L. West, who passed away in 1998. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday December 7, 2016 at Moffett Cemetery in Milton. Family and friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wood Oakley Chapel, 37 High Street, Milton, Kentucky Wednesday from 12 PM until 1:30 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Memorial envelopes may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes locations.
