Kent Adams Obituary

Kent Leroy Adams died on August 3, 2016 at the Indiana Veterans’ Home in West Lafayette, Indiana after an extended illness. He was 85. Kent is survived by his wife, Barbara, West Lafayette, Indiana; six children, Michael (Kathy Boling) Adams, Louisville, Kentucky; Michelle (Phillip) Johnson, Warsaw, Indiana; Martin (Diane) Adams, Chesterfield, Virginia; Marlin (Diane) Adams, Marisa Armagh and Marie (David) Belanger all of Marion, Indiana; and four step-children, Michelle (James) Turner, La Porte, Indiana; Kevin (Belinda) Trimble, Gas City, Indiana; Scott (Kristi) Trimble, West Lafayette, Indiana; and Brian Trimble, Marion, Indiana. In addition, he is survived by 13 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Kent was born in Marion, Indiana on April 16, 1931 to Edna and Ray Adams. He graduated from Marion High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he began working as a tool and dye maker at the Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Marion, Indiana. He married Barbara (Conwell) Trimble on June 3, 1972. He retired from General Motors in 1988 after almost 32 years there. He and his wife moved to Matlacha Isles in Cape Coral, Florida, where they lived until June 1, 2015. Kent was a licensed pilot for much of his adult life. He owned several small planes over the years, which he enjoyed flying for leisure. He spent many hours fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and was fond of catching the large snook common to that area. He was especially proud of learning to scuba dive at the age of 75 and taking a diving trip to Cozumel Mexico. His passion was woodworking and carpentry. He took special delight in finding a unique gift to make for friends and family each year. When they were young the grandchildren spent many hours playing with the wooden toys he crafted lovingly for them, and which have now been handed down to his great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Kent will be buried at Gardens of Memory, 11201 S. Marion Rd, Marion, Indiana.
