Anita Mary Rosendahl Obituary

Anita Mary (Billy) Rosendahl (Skewis), the daughter of E.A. and Maude (Seymour) Skewis was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 14, 1910, and departed this life Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at the age of 105 years 11 months and 26 days. She was the eldest child in a family that included a sister Bettie (Ballou) of Storm Lake and brother, Robert Skewis of Emmetsburg.

She received her primary education in Minneapolis and Madelia, Minnesota. After graduating from Madelia High School in 1929, she attended Buena Vista College in 1932, with a Bachelor of Art's Degree.

On June 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to F.E. Rosendahl at Storm Lake. In 1937, the couple moved to Estherville, Iowa, where her husband practiced law and she raised their family and attended to an active family home and social life.

She was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church in Estherville, having served in numerous capacities through the years. In her later years she was active in a wide variety of activities at the Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

Active in community organizations, she was a member and President of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member and President of the local PEO organization. It is believed she was the oldest member of DAR in the United States. She also held a membership in the Colonial Dames of America.

Mrs. Rosendahl enjoyed a busy and full life in Estherville and her home on West Okoboji. In retirement she and her husband lived on Estero Island in the community of Fort Meyers Beach, Florida. Each year as the weather turned cool, she looked forward to returnig to her home in Florida.

Mrs. Rosendahl is survived by two sons, Fritz Rosendahl (Nancy) of Knysa, South Africa; James Rosendahl (Koral) of Estherville; a daughter, Mary Anita Juhl of West Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding Anita in death are her parents; husband; and her sisters and brothers; and son-in-law, Ernie Juhl.
