Elnora Marie (Durbin) Olson, the daughter of James and Dagmar (Andreasen) Durbin was born March 25, 1919 in Union Township in Guthrie County, near Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was the third born child into their family of nineteen children. Elnora died on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 97, where she had resided for this past year.
She received her education at Viola Township Consolidated School in Audubon County.

On November 20, 1943 Elnora was united in marriage to Glenn C. Olson at her brother’s home in Gilmore City, Iowa. They became the parents of one son, Richard Glenn. Glenn and Elnora farmed northwest of Swea City, then moved into Swea City in 1974 when they retired.

Elnora was a member of First Baptist Church and served on Deaconess Board and Entertainment Committee. She also held offices in the American Baptist Women's Mission group and her Circle, where she served faithfully through the years. In April 2010, Elnora relocated to Fairmont, Minnesota and enjoyed making new friends at Goldfinch Estates Assisted Living. On December 31, 2015 she moved to Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to be near her family.

Those who enjoyed Elnora's friendship through the years knew that coffee time with her would include tasty homemade treats. Her yard, garden and flower beds were a source of joy to all who passed by her Swea City, Iowa home.

Left to cherish Elnora's memory are her son Richard and his wife, Carol of Sioux Falls; two grandsons, Randy and his wife, Lisa of Fairmont; Jeff and his wife, Misty of Milford. Elnora was privileged to know and love her five great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Elizabeth, Hannah, Justin and Nathan; one brother, Gary (Pete) Durbin and his wife, Betty of Bayard, Iowa; three sisters, Martha Cady and her husband, Merrill of Sac City, Iowa; Carolyn Lanning and her husband, Dick of Trenton, Missouri; Deanna Firebaugh of Pottsboro, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn in June of 1987; sisters, Verna, Ina Mae, Dorothy, Betty Jean and June; brothers, William, Wayne, Roy, Harold, Lynn, Dale, James and twins, Lester and Loren.
