Bud Withrow Obituary

Bud L. Withrow, 80, of Le Mars passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Richard Sitzmann and Father Kevin Richter will concelebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Military honors will be conducted by Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Wednesday. Bud Louis Withrow was born on June 27, 1935 in San Jose, California to Louis and Pauline (Francies) Withrow. He attended school in San Jose prior to enlisting in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Bud earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut. He received his honorable discharge on June 2, 1966. He took a position with Westinghouse and worked in California and Maryland. On June 16, 1974, Bud and Ann Fisch were united in marriage in Fairfield, California. In 1981, they made a career change and moved to Colorado where they operated the Lazy T Resort in Estes Park. They relocated to Le Mars in 1990 and Bud worked as a home inspector, retiring in 2009. Bud was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature. Some of his favorite activities included hiking, climbing, camping, cross country skiing and caring for his dog. Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 41 years, Ann Withrow of Le Mars, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Catherine and Bryon Rochon of Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dorothy and Nancy.
