Jimmie Barr Garrett

Garrett, Jimmie Barr, 85, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Baptist Health. He was born in Owensboro and grew up in Irvine, KY where he graduated from Irvine High School. He was a Post Engineer in the U.S. Army, and was a Track Maintenance Supervisor in the Construction Engineering Division at CSX Railroad, where he worked for 43 years. Jimmie was a member of Southeast Christian Church, a proud grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, beekeeper, and a private pilot. He was also a Mason and a KY Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Roxie Garrett; and brother, Frank Garrett. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen Garrett; children, Jamie Stephens (Dwayne) and Milton Garrett (Amy); and grandchildren, Summer, Garrett and Grant. His funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Monday at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Southeast Christian Church Lifebridge Ministry.
