Lois Fuller Shearer

Shearer, Lois Fuller, 88, of Louisville passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 1, 2016 at Jewish Hospital. She was born in Pleasant Lake, Indiana on April 10, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, parents Gerald and Evangeline Fuller, and two older brothers Richard and Bob. Lois and her husband, Jim, were married 62 years when he passed away in 2010. Lois is survived by three children, James C. Shearer II (Susie) of Blue Springs, MO, Becky Vittitoe (Dan) of Louisville, KY, and Kevin G. Shearer of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, James C. Shearer III (Kristi), Jason Shearer (Terri), John Shearer, Joy Furman (Matt), Paige Vittitoe Holroyd (Micah), Tyler Vittitoe (Sarah), Cameron Shearer, Natalie Shearer; and her eleven great-grandchildren. Church was very important to Lois. She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Many of the charities she supported benefited the United States military and their families. Lois enjoyed travel, U of L professor John Hale’s archaeology classes and trips, doll collecting, and University of Louisville basketball. She and Jim had been season ticket holders to Cardinal home games since 1958. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 5, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. Interment will be at St. Paul United Methodist columbarium. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to her church, St. Paul United Methodist or the Treyton Oak Towers Employee Christmas Fund.
