Sylvia Ann O'Brien

O’Brien, Sylvia Ann, 82, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. A native of Aruba, she was the former Sylvia Ann DeSpain, a homemaker and member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. Her favorite times were spent with family. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine (McConn) and Henry F. DeSpain, Jr.; husband, James P. O’Brien, Jr. and brother-in-law, Frank Hatfield, Sr. She is survived by her children, Alfred Vest III (Ann), Cindy Smith, Ray O’Brien (Greg), Dean O’Brien, Karen Bonifer (Philip), James O’Brien III (April) and Paul O’Brien (Cindy); grandchildren, Rebecca Bonifer, Sean O’Brien, Lauren Kemper (Nick), Dalton O’Brien (Emily), Joel O’Brien, Jesse Brown, Garrett O’Brien, Shannon O’Brien, Aaron O’Brien, and Emily Vest; great-grandchild, Aidan O’Brien; brother, Henry F. DeSpain III (Judy); sister, Carla R. Hatfield and a host of family and friends. Her funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Home of the Innocents or The Arrow Fund.
