Thompson, Thomas Newton "Tommy", 93, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017.Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, successful businessman, combat soldier… Tommy was one of a kind and larger than life. Raised in the hard times of the depression he became a combat infantryman with Patton's Third Army and participated in the relief of the 101st airborne whichwas surrounded at Bastogne. He came home, started a family and created Tommy Thompson's Produce, both a retail and wholesale produce company on Louisville's "Haymarket". He became what the Courier Journal called "The King of the Christmas Trees". Tommy always had a smile and lived life on his own terms. He will be greatly missed.Tommy is survived by the love of his life, Naomi "Omi" Thompson (marriedfor 73 years); his beloved children, Thomas Newton Thompson Jr., Alfred C.Thompson, and Deloris (Dee Dee) Sewell (Donald). He had 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be Tuesday 3 - 8 and Wednesday 12 - 1, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm, at Highland Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
