Virginia Louise Sears Obituary

SEARS, Virginia Louise (Dahl), 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, surrounded by family at the Episcopal Church Home. Virginia was born on November 24, 1927 in Louisville, and her career included employment with Western Union during World War II, Fern Creek Sewing Center and Shilito’s department stores. She and her husband, LeRoy, were active in the Kosair Charities and volunteered at the Center for the Arts as ushers. They both loved to travel and shared their love of the beach with family and friends. She was known for her sense of humor, keen wit, love of automobiles and a good bingo game. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Sears; and daughter, Linda Sears Stallings. Virigina is survived by her daughter, Barbara Kay Sears (Bryan) of Louisville; son, Michael Roy Sears (Lillian) of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Pierce and Laura Kay Miller (Donnie) of Louisville, Daniel Taylor Cornett (Amanda) of Covington, KY and Cassandra Louise Cornett (James) of Golden, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Bella and Emma Cornett. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at The Episcopal Church Home, St. Luke’s Chapel, 7504 Westport Rd., Louisville, KY 40222. The family would like to thank the Episcopal Church Home staff, and especially Dr. Jane Cornett, and Angie Etheridge for the excellent care and love they showed to Virginia and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kosair Charities, PO Box 37370, Louisville, KY 40223.
