Lessie B. Crayton Mimes entered this world to begin a wonderful and fruitful life on December 1, 1926 in Powhattan, Louisiana to the late Collier Crayton and Leontine Flanagan Crayton. She was one of nine children born to this union. She was baptized at an early age into Baptist faith and later after confessing her faith in Christ entered into Catholic faith at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Pineville, Louisiana.
Lessie B. Crayton Mimes was a loving wife, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother, great grandmother and most of all a loving mother. She was employed as a domestic worker for over forty years.
Her faith in God remained strong and forever true. She served as a Eucharistic Minister until her health failed and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Bishop Greco Court for over twenty-five years at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Pineville, Louisiana.
On December 20, 1945, she united in matrimony to the late S.T. Mimes.
On October 3, 2006 at the age of 79 her life ended at her residence and a new and glorious life began with Christ.
Preceding her in death are her brothers Cedric Crayton and Fred Crayton of Alexandria, Louisiana and C.L. Grayton of Pineville; Sisters, Joanna Crayton of Qunice, California, Lee Ethel Jackson of Powhattan, Louisiana, and Thelma Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana; one Son, Michael Owen Mimes of Pineville, Louisiana; and one Granddaughter, Nakiaya Stanai Alexander of Pineville, Louisiana.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, S.T. Mimes (Brenda), Kenneth Mimes of Pineville; seven daughters, Gwendolyn Glasper, Leontyne Brown (Johnnie), Irma Hayes (Jessie), Edna Clark (Michael), Christal Moore, Mary Alexander Hall, all of Pineville; Jackie Berry (Talton) of Houston, Texas; two sisters Clara Leon of Houston, Texas and Elnora Williams of Alexandria; and a daughter-in-law Amy Mimes of Pineville.
She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and many friends.
Services for Lessie Bell Mimes will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Roy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ball.
The Holy Rosary will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006.
Active Pallbearers will be Gwendolyn Glasper, Jackie Berry, Leontyne Brown, Irma Hayes, Edna Clark, Christal Moore, and Mary Alexander.
Honorary Pallbearers will be S.T.
