George A. Garig Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Norwood, LA, died on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Visitation will be at the Wilson Baptist Church in Wilson, LA on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 10am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Marc Gregoire. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Norwood. He is survived by four daughters: Cynthia Medine and her husband Anthony; Elaine Shipley; Donna Brown and her husband Michael; Ester Ragolta and her husband Ray; three sons, George A. Garig Jr and his wife Felica; Henry Garig; Jamie Garig and his wife Jolanda; four brothers, Billy Garig; Mickey Garig and his wife Bernice; Fletcher Garig and his wife Peggy; and Wayne Garig and his wife Kathy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Marion Payne; his brother, Donald Garig; his brother Bobby Garig; and his son-in-law Buddy Shipley. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, ever since he was a Boy Scout. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and a logger.
